Wolves coach reveals what he admires about Marshall Munetsi
Wolverhampton Wanderers coach Vitor Pereira has revealed the qualities he admires about former PSL star Marshall Munetsi.
The 28-year-old midfielder made his debut for the English Premier League side Wolves as they beat Blackburn Rovers FC 2-0 in an FA Cup 4th-round match played on Sunday.
On his debut, Munetsi played 24 minutes after being introduced as a substitute in the second half. The former Orlando Pirates star was Wolves’ deadline day signing along with Burkinabé centre-back Nasser Djiga.
Munetsi’s arrival has left Pereira confident that the club has finally assembled an evenly balanced-squad.
The Wolves gaffer gave glowing comments about Munetsi, saying his physicality and ability to deal with aerial balls and duels will help them turn a corner.
WHAT PEREIRA ADMIRES ABOUT MUNETSI
“Physically, he’s a very strong player. He is a player who goes box-to-box, strong in the duels, strong in the air, with a good quality of pass, and he runs a lot,” he said.
PEREIRA IMPRESSED AFTER MUNETSI’S WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS DEBUT
Pereira was impressed with how Munetsi applied himself on his Wolverhampton Wanderers debut against Blackburn Rovers FC.
He said: “He’s a strong player. The three players that we brought in this window, they are strong, physically strong, and they can add a lot. They can help us a lot in this long season that we have to face.”
In addition, Munetsi reunited with his ex-Stade Reims teammate Agbadou, who has already settled at Wolves. Moreso, Pereira expects Munetsi and Agbadou’s telepathy to help him settle as well as manifest on the field of play.
“I think so. They are very good friends and he’s a player that can bring us the physicality that we need, the solutions that we need in the middle.
“Because of the experience that we had before, when we had Andre [Trindade da Costa Neto] out one game, we had problems, and then we had Joao out for another game.
“Bellegarde [Jean-Ricner] did very well, and he was for me in this position a very good surprise. But I think now the squad is more balanced,” he added.
How Munetsi will fare in England remains to be seen as hopes are high that the former Pirates man will keep rising.
