Mhango: ‘It was the best moment I had in the PSL…’

Having played for several clubs in the PSL, Malawian striker Gabadinho Mhango has revealed the club that made him feel on top of the world.

Mhango kicked off his professional career at Malawian giants Nyasa Big Bullets before being absorbed into the SA elite league – PSL.

He arrived in the PSL in 2013 when he signed for Bloemfontein Celtic where he spent two years. In 2015, he moved to Golden Arrows for a brief loan stint. Mhango then returned to Bloemfontein Celtic after six months.

He was then signed by the now-defunct Bidvest Wits and then broke into the Orlando Pirates set-up in 2019. At Pirates, he made 71 appearances and scored 23 goals, with his stint lasting until 2022.

He then spent one season each at AmaZulu FC and Moroka Swallows before joining Marumo Gallants, where he is currently plying his trade.

At Gallants, Mhango has managed three goals since joining them ahead of the current Betway Premiership season.

MALAWIAN STRIKER MHANGO NAMES THE CLUB HE MOSTLY ENJOYED PLAYING FOR IN SA

In an interview with FARPost, Mhango stated that Orlando Pirates were the club that made him feel like he was on cloud nine while playing for them.

“For the team that I am playing for right now [Gallants], they gave me a job, and it’s just a great opportunity to be here,” he said. “It’s been a good experience for the teams I have been playing for, and it’s all amazing and good memories for all the teams I play for.

“So it’s absolutely great and it shows that I have been here for a long and worthy time. I will never regret it. Playing at Pirates was fun; it’s a big team, and everyone wants to play for that team in the country.

“It was a great achievement to be able to play for them. And for me, it was the best moment that I had in the PSL, playing for Orlando Pirates,” Mhango told FARPost.

Mhango missed an opportunity to play for Kaizer Chiefs after his intended move to the club collapsed at the eleventh hour.
