Orlando Pirates star set to be rewarded with brand new car
Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng is set to receive a brand new car from the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture, and Recreation in recognition of a major award win.
Mofokeng’s rise in SA football has been nothing short of meteoric since his promotion from Pirates’ DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] side to the senior team.
The Vaal-born winger made his debut in the Betway Premiership midway through the 2022/23 season and quickly established himself as a regular fixture in both the Pirates’ starting line-up and, more recently, the Bafana Bafana squad.
During his first full season with The Buccaneers, Mofokeng’s contributions proved invaluable, earning him the Young Player of the Season award at the 2024 PSL Awards. His impact is clearly reflected in his statistics: according to Transfermarkt, the 20-year-old has made 69 appearances for the first team, scoring 14 goals and providing 18 assists.
Mofokeng’s trophy cabinet is also beginning to fill up. He played a crucial role in Pirates’ success in the 2024 Nedbank Cup, even scoring the winning goal in the final against Mamelodi Sundowns.
His contributions continued into the current season, where he scored in the MTN8 final against Stellenbosch FC, also providing an assist in the 3-1 victory.

The highly-rated attacker’s prize will be provided by Bidvest McCarthy VW West Gate in Roodepoort on Tuesday afternoon. This gift is made possible through the sponsorship of Joma Sport, a key partner of the Gauteng Sports Awards.
