Fawaaz Basadien and Devin Titus address Gauteng interest

Fawaaz Basadien and Devin Titus of Stellenbosch FC have spoken out about the transfer speculation surrounding their names, with several Gauteng clubs reportedly interested in their services.

The Bafana Bafana internationals – Basadien and Devin Titus have been integral to Stellenbosch FC’s strong performances in recent years under the guidance of Steve Barker.  Their performances were key to the club’s historic triumph in the 2024 Carling Knockout Cup, their first top-flight trophy.

This season, they have continued to be influential. The duo has played pivotal roles in Stellenbosch FC’s journey to the MTN8 final, where they were defeated by Orlando Pirates and their current participation in the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals.

The highly-rated left-back Basadien has featured in 27 matches across all competitions, scored six goals and provided six assists. On the other hand, Titus has scored eight goals and chipped in with four assists in 31 games this season.

In recent months, Basadien has been on the radar of Kaizer Chiefs, who are in a rebuilding mission under the watchful eye of Nasreddine Nabi, while Titus is also rumoured to be monitored by the big three – Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Amakhosi.

WHAT DID FAWAAZ BASADIEN AND DEVIN TITUS SAY ABOUT THE TRANSFER RUMOURS?

Speaking at the Stellies’ Tuesday media open for the Nedbank Cup Last 16 match against Polokwane City FC, Basadien emphasised the importance of not focusing too much on the noise outside.

Last year, Basadien signed a new four-year contract, and any team looking to sign in the June 2025 transfer window will have to pay a hefty amount while Titus signed a long-term deal with Stellenbosch senior team from the club’s DStv Diski Challenge side in November 2023.

“I feel like I get this question often [about the future], for me, is controlling what I can control because I’m contracted to Stellenbosch,” the 28-year-old said.

“So this is where I’m playing now, my focus has to be here. I don’t have to look and focus on what’s happening outside, for me is just to improve, grow everyday and help the team as much as I can.”

Meanwhile, Titus revealed that at the moment, he wants to be at Stellenbosch, and he’ll make a move when the time is right.

“I want to be at Stellenbosch Football Club because they gave me an opportunity when no other club gave me an opportunity,” Titus told journalists.

“So once I reach the things I want to reach with the club, then hopefully, I can move over, and I know for a fact that Stellenbosch is not a club that will keep you and hold you back from your dreams.”
