Tiklas Thutlwa recovers after horrific leg injury, what’s next?
Tiklas Thutlwa’s agent, Thabiso Thobane, has confirmed the player’s recovery from a serious leg injury sustained in January of last year and provided an update on his future with Sekhukhune United.
Thutlwa signed with Babina Noko in July 2023 after being let go by Black Leopards, who were relegated from the Motsepe Foundation Championship in the 2022/23 season.
Unfortunately, the gifted right-winger was sent out on loan to Venda FC in January 2024 with the hope of getting more game time. However, before being loaned out, the player had made 10 appearances for Sekhukhune in the SA elite league.
On his arrival at Venda FC, Thutlwa did not officially play for the club, as he fractured his leg in a friendly match against Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in January of the previous year.
The 25-year-old spent about eight months on the sidelines due to the severe leg injury.
AGENT SHARES LATEST UPDATE ON TIKLAS THUTLWA’S FUTURE
Thutlwa’s representative has disclosed to this website that his client has completely healed after having plates taken out of his leg in November 2024 and is now waiting for Sekhukhune to decide if they wish to retain him or send him out on loan.
“Thutlwa is fully recovered right now. So, he is just waiting for his team to decide whether they want to keep him or loan him,” Thobane told FARPost.
“But if they consider a loan, it should be a loan that favours both the player and the club in the process, not a loan deal that favours the club only.
“So, the reason why he is not playing at the moment or being sent out on loan is that the loan deals that have come forward only suit the club, not the player.”
As things stand, Sekhukhune are placed fifth on the Betway Premiership table with 25 points after 16 outings.
