South African coach gets recognition at USA club
Former South African junior international Lebo Moloto has been recognised with a coach of the month award at his US club Tulsa SC.
Moloto was appointed as the club’s Girls Junior Academy coach last year following his retirement.
The 34-year-old moved to the United States to play college soccer at Lindsey Wilson College in 2009. He was discovered during an international tournament in Cape Town at age 16.
Moloto has played for clubs such as Des Moines Menace, Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Swope Park Rangers, and Nashville SC before he joined FC Tulsa in 2020. During his time as a player, Moloto also made USL Championship League history by being the first player to ever record three assists in a single game.

He represented South Africa at the Under-17 level. In 2007, Moloto was part of the Under-17 side that reached the final of the 2007 COSAFA Youth Championship. It was his goal in the semi-final that booked South Africa a spot in the final.
TULSA SC RECOGNISES LEBO MOLOTO AS THE COACH OF THE MONTH
Tulsa took to their social media platforms to announce Moloto as the best coach for January 2025.
“Congratulations to coach Lebo Moloto for being selected as the Coach of the Month here at Tulsa SC,” the club said.
“Coach Lebo has made an incredible impact on the 2015 girls’ team, leading them to new heights with his dedication, knowledge, and passion for the game. He is continuing that impact with the 2016 and 2017 Girls teams. We are grateful for his leadership and commitment to Tulsa Soccer Club! Keep up the amazing work, Coach Lebo.”
Moloto is also known for his community upliftment work through his foundation. He hosts tournaments for local SAFA amateur teams and donations through shoes, clothes and kits.
