Themba Zwane, Mudau, Shalulile among 11 Sundowns stars out of contracts in June
With only three months left before the end of the 2024/25 season, Themba Zwane, Khuliso Mudau, and Peter Shalulile are among 11 stars out of contract in June at Mamelodi Sundowns.
The reigning Betway Premiership champions will have tough decisions to make on which players to reward with contract extensions and which players to let go.
Sundowns captain Themba Zwane is one of the notable names on the long list of players who will learn their fate at Chloorkop. At the start of the season, the veteran midfielder was offered a one-year contract renewal, which is set to expire on the 30th of June 2025.
Zwane has missed the most part of the current campaign after sustaining an Achilles injury during Bafana Bafana‘s 2025 AFCON qualifier match against Congo Brazzaville in October 2024.
After spending more than 10 seasons with Masandawana and proving to be one of the best players ever to don the club’s Yellow jersey, the 35-year-old is likely to be offered a new contract.
MUDAU AND SHALULILE HAVE ENTERED THE LAST THREE MONTHS OF THEIR CONTRACTS
Meanwhile, Khuliso Mudau and Peter Shalulile have also entered the last three months of their contacts. Mudau joined Sundowns back in 2020 from Black Leopards, while Shalulile was signed from Highlands Park the same year.
The Namibian hitman has been key to Sundowns’ success in recent years after scoring 98 goals and providing 26 assists in 187 appearances.
On the other hand, Mudau established himself as one of the best right-backs in the PSL with his ability to contribute both in defence and attack.
‘Sailor’ is also a regular in the Bafana Bafana squad under Hugo Broos. Mudau was part of the squad that came home with a bronze medal at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
Other players that will be out of contracts in June are Devine Lunga, Terrence Mashego, Marcelo Allende, Jody February, Sipho Mbule, Sphelele Mkhulise, Mothobi Mvala, Musa Lebusa, and Rivaldo Coetzee.
