Saile and Nurkovic come back to haunt Chiefs at FNB Stadium

Amakhosi made two changes from the side that beat Chippa United in the Nedbank Cup over the weekend. Bradley Cross came on for Happy Mashiane. Captain Yusuf Maart also returned to the side in place of Samkelo Zwane. Matsatsanta started with both Nurkovic and Saile upfront.

The visitors did not waste time finding the back of the net after former Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic tapped in from a cross from Gamphani Lungu. The latter nearly made it 2-0 for SuperSport when his shot from a Saile cross was cleared off the line by Rushwin Dortley.

Chiefs pushed for an equaliser and were finally rewarded on the half-hour mark. Glody Lilepo headed home for Chiefs after a cross by Pule Mmodi. It was the Congolese forward’s second goal in five matches for Chiefs.

SAMIR NURKOVIC AND CHRISTIAN SAILE HELP MATSATSANTSA SECURE VICTORY OVER KAIZER CHIEFS

It took only two minutes before SuperSport regained their lead. Another Chiefs player, Saile, pounced from close range after an assist from Samir Nurkovic. Chiefs made a substitution in the 37th minute, with Mduduzi Shabalala coming in for Mmodi.

Chiefs immediately made two changes into the second half, with George Matlou and Happy Mashiane coming in for Yusuf Maart and Bradley Cross, respectively.

Tashreeq Morris wasted a glorious opportunity to find an equaliser in the 57th minute after his shot went wide. Morris missed a second chance in a space of three minutes after his shot was easily saved by Ricardo Goss this time around.

Gamphani Lungu nailed it for United after scoring from a rebound of a Bruce Bvuma save to make it 3-1. Gaston Sirino was shown his marching orders after a second yellow card in the 68th minute as Chiefs finished the match with 10-man. Siphesihle Ndlovu sealed it for SuperSport with a stunning shot to make it 4-1 seven minutes from time.

It was a seventh defeat for Amakhosi who are now in sixth position on the Betway Premiership log.
