Siphesihle Ndlovu weighs in on Maboe’s influence

SuperSport United midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu has weighed in on Lebohang Maboe’s influence having joined Matsatsantsa from cross-town rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Maboe joined the Gavin Hunt-coached side on a loan deal during PSL‘s January transfer window. This loan move will see him stay at SuperSport for the remainder of the season.

Since his arrival at SuperSport, the gifted attacking midfielder has played three games across all competitions and contributed one goal.

Ndlovu and Maboe played together at Maritzburg United for two seasons before the latter moved to Bafana Ba Style in August 2018.

SIPHESIHLE NDLOVU ON LEBOHANG MABOE’S IMPACT

Ndlovu highlighted that having a player of Maboe’s calibre at SuperSport will be beneficial since he understands what the midfielder can achieve on the pitch.

He believes that Maboe can be a pivotal player as he influences the matches he participates in. He cites his performance against Cape Town Spurs in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 last week as an example, where he scored the winning goal in the dying minutes of extra time.

“You know, he is a very great player. That name gives me goosebumps for a reason,” Ndlovu told journalists in Randburg on Monday night.

“We played together at Maritzburg United for two seasons and the season where he left he had a great season at Maritzburg. He was our very influential player. So, we lost him and things went south.

“I’m very happy to be reunited with him. I believe he is going to contribute to the club’s success. You have seen how he performed in the Nedbank Cup game against Cape Town Spurs.”

SuperSport will face Kaizer Chiefs in a Betway Premiership tie at the FNB Stadium this evening. The game will start at 19:30.
