AmaZulu FC attacker Rowan Human has shared insights on what he has learned from seasoned midfielder Bongani Zungu, who recently joined ‘Usuthu’.

Zungu has been at ‘Usuthu’ since December 2024 and has already featured in seven matches. Before penning a deal with AmaZulu, Zungu had spent six months on the sidelines after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns in June.

Human, who has been in fine form for AmaZulu this season, has opened up on what he believes the former Bafana Bafana international has brought to the team.

The AmaZulu FC forward highlighted Zungu’s calming presence on the field, noting that he has brought a sense of composure to the team, particularly in his partnership with Ben Motshwari.

Human also emphasised the wealth of knowledge he’s gained from training alongside Zungu, acknowledging the value of learning from his extensive experience and varied career.

Human added: “He is very calm on the field, and he has brought that calmness to the team as well. Especially next to Ben [Motshwari] helping out as well.”

The 24-year-old Human has been a regular at the club under co-coaches Arthur Zwane and Vusumuzi Vilakazi. He has featured in all Betway Premiership and three cup matches for the club so far this season.

The former Bidvest Wits player has credited being patient for the turnaround in form.

“I think it was just patience and working hard and also waiting for your opportunity, and when it comes, you just grab it,” he added.

Human has also acknowledged the role of co-coaches Zwane and Vilakazi in his improved form, crediting them with giving him the freedom to express himself on the field.

“Definitely. They have come in and given me the confidence and freedom to play football. When I say freedom I mean with instructions to enjoy the game. That’s basically what they have made me do, that is to enjoy football.”
