Nabi sends message to Chiefs fans after SuperSport thrashing

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has sent a message to the club’s supporters following a humiliating defeat in the Betway Premiership against SuperSport United.

Amakhosi suffered a 4-1 loss to SuperSport at FNB Stadium in Soweto on Tuesday night in what was arguably their worst performance of the 2024/25 season.

Chiefs were haunted by their former players Samir Nurkovic and Christian Saile, who tormented The Glamour Boys defence.

Saile and Nurkovic found the net for SuperSport alongside Gamphani Lungu and Siphesihle Ndlovu, while Glody Lilepo netted the one goal for Chiefs.

The defeat against Matsatsantsa left Chiefs sitting sixth on the log standings with 25 points after 18 matches played. They won seven league matches, drew four and lost seven times.

Chiefs came to the match against SuperSport high on confidence after an impressive win in the Nedbank Cup Last 16 over Chippa United last Saturday.

NASREDDINE NABI TELLS FANS THAT THIS IS NOT A TRUE REFLECTION OF CHIEFS’ POTENTIAL

Nabi has told Kaizer Chiefs fans not to think that the loss to the Tshwane-based side is a true reflection of their potential.

“I want to speak to the fans because I’m not someone who runs away from my responsibility. I want to take this time to explain the situation to them and not necessarily give them excuses,” Nabi said.

“It’s true that the results hurt them, and also, I’m the first person to be hurt. This is not a game they should use to judge their team or the potential of their team.

“This accident can happen anywhere in the world and it could even happen that the score is higher than what we have seen.

“It’s not possible to be a good team three days ago and three days after we are a weak team, it’s not possible. And as I said, we cannot always give excuses, but I’m very understanding when it comes to my players.

“I understood that they gave their best the previous games and they were tired. I would like to ask you to be patient with the players as you have been in the happy times; do it in the difficult times.”
