Ramoreboli on Ditlhokwe and Orebonye’s union at Al-Ittihad

Botswana coach Morena Ramoreboli has commented on his two stars, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and Tumisang Orebonye’s union at Al-Ittihad in North Africa.

Ditlhokwe and Orebonye are Ramoreboli’s key players in the Botswana national team. The pair joined the Libyan giants Al-Ittihad this month from Kaizer Chiefs and AS FAR of Morocco, respectively.

The released Amakhosi defender Ditlhokwe, who is The Zebras captain, signed a two-and-a-half-year contract which will keep him at Al-Ittihadt until August 2027. In addition, Orebonye signed a one-and-a-half-year contract which runs until June 2026.

WHAT RAMOREBOLI SAID ABOUT DITLHOKWE AND OREBONYE’S UNION AT AL-ITTIHAD

And their union at Al-Ittihad has left Ramoreboli brimming with confidence that the duo will hit good strides. In an interview with FARPost, Ramoreboli said it is a blessing in disguise for his men, as they will help each other settle at the club.

“In football, the most important thing is to adapt as quickly as possible. And I think it will make him [Ditlhokwe] adapt as quickly as possible, having Orebonye there because it means you will have someone to talk to,” Morena told FARPost.

“And they will support each other and share pressure and stress together. So, for me, it’s good, and it happened at the right time for both of them and our team.

“Obviously for Orebonye as well, he would have needed somebody to share the pressure and the stress with. Now that Ditlhokwe is there, it will make it much easier for both of them.

“And again, it will also help them to focus because now, at least as teammates and friends. They will quickly adapt and compete.”

Ditlhokwe left Chiefs to join the North African team for a reported R15 million fee. The 26-year-old centre-back was starting to enjoy significant game time under Nasreddine Nabi.

He joined The Glamour Boys at the start of the 2023/24 season from SuperSport United. Meanwhile, Orebonye joined the Libyan giants after they triggered a R9.2 million release clause to get the striker from AS FAR.
