Jomo Sono reveals why Sekhukhune are his favourite team to watch
Jomo Cosmos owner and coach Jomo Sono has explained why Sekhukhune United are his favourite team to watch in the Betway Premiership.
Babina Noko recently claimed an emphatic 4-2 victory over AmaZulu FC at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Wednesday, 19 February 2025 in the league.
Sekhukhune came from a goal down to collect maximum points through goals from Andy Boyeli, Keletso Makgalwa and a brace from Linda Mntambo.
The win against AmaZulu saw Sekhukhune move fourth on the log standings with 28 points after 17 matches played. Sekhukhune have won eight matches in the league, drew four and lost five times.
In the current campaign, Sekhukhune have proven to be one of the teams with impressive players at their disposal. At the start of the season, Sekhukhune signed high-profile players such as Keletso Makgalwa, Thabang Monare, Sipho Mbule, Njabulo Ngcobo, and Lesedi Kapinga.
SA’s football icon Jomo Cosmos has disclosed what fascinates him about watching Sekhukhune more than any other team, PSL.
JOMO SONO ENJOYS WATCHING HIS FORMER PLAYERS AT SEKHUKHUNE
The Orlando Pirates legend says it is enjoyable to watch Sekhukhune because their squad is made up of a handful of former Cosmos players.
Sekhukhune United have Thabang Monare, Linda Mntambo, Vusumzi Mncube, Chibuike Ohizu and Vuyo Letlapa.
“I haven’t been able to watch most of the PSL matches recently because the games usually play at the same time as ours in the ABC Motsepe League,” Sono told FARPost.
“One team that I have been making time to watch is Sekhukhune United because they have many players from Jomo Cosmos. They have your Linda Mntambo, Thabang Monare and a whole lot more.
“Even Daniel Cardoso was with Cosmos at a very young age. I think that’s one thing people don’t know. He was with us before his Free State Stars days, and his family had to move to Europe.
“So I just love watching Sekhukhune because they have players who played for me and I keep on tracking how they’re doing there.”
