Larsen confirms PSL clubs’ talks & speaks on Richards Bay failed move

Former Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen has confirmed talks with PSL clubs interested in his services and also opened up on the Richards Bay FC failed move.

After promoting ‘Dikwena tša Meetse’ to the Betway Premiership this season and leading them to Carling Knockout Cup glory as top-flight rookies, Larsen surprisingly resigned in December.

He announced his resignation live on TV after a defeat to the Carling All-Stars team during the Carling Black Label Cup on 21 December at Orlando Stadium in Soweto

Thereafter, he was heavily linked with Richards Bay who had sacked Brandon Truter. Larsen admitted that he held discussions with the KZN club. However, things couldn’t materialise as the talks faded along the way.

HOW LARSEN’S MOVE TO RICHARDS BAY FELL THROUGH

“Yes, there was an initial contact from Richards Bay. But things went quiet, and, you know, I’m not one to force the issue,” said Larsen during the interview with FARPost.

“So, you know, I let it be because I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. So, you know, things didn’t materialise.”

Meanwhile, Larsen also confirmed to this website that he has spoken to three Motsepe Foundation Championship clubs, including Black Leopards, in the past few weeks.

LEOPARDS AMONG CLUBS THAT HAD TALKS WITH LARSEN

“And then I’ve spoken to about two or three NFD teams as well, you know,” he added.

“And for me, it’s about searching for the right environment, you know. I’ve experienced different environments in my coaching career.

“So, trying to choose is not an easy thing to do, but trying to choose a healthy working environment is something that I’m looking for. And, yeah, so I just spoke to a few teams in the past three to four weeks.

“Like I said, nothing has materialised yet, and maybe something will happen in the next week or two.”

When asked whether Leopards were one of the teams he spoke to, he answered, “Yes, yes, it was.”
