Gallants and PLK City share spoils, SuperSport and Arrows clash called off

Marumo Gallants and Polokwane City FC shared spoils on Sunday in the Betway Premiership, whilst a clash between SuperSport United and Golden Arrows was called off.

The match between Gallants and The Rise and Shine ended in a 0-0 draw at the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein.

Polokwane City FC were the better side in front of goal with six shots on target as compared to zero of the hosts.

The stalemate saw Polokwane City stretch their winless run to four matches in the league following two draws and two defeats. On the log, they are fourth with 30 points from 19 matches following eight victories, six draws and five defeats.

On the other hand, 14th-placed Bahlabane Ba Ntwa have collected 16 points from 18 games and they’re winless in their last five league matches. In those matches, Gallants registered three defeats and two draws.

The poor run of form prior to the match on Sunday saw the club part ways with coach Dan Malesela alongside technical director Molefi Ntseki.

In another encounter on Sunday, the clash between SuperSport and Golden Arrows was called off at halftime. This was due to floodlights not working at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria. The PSL will communicate in due course on when the match will be resumed.

The two teams were level at 1-1 after the first 45 minutes of the game.

On loan Kaizer Chiefs attacker Christian Saile opened the scoring for the hosts as early as four minutes into the match. But Velemseni Ndwandwe found the back of the net for Arrows 24 minutes into the game to level matters.

The match was very special to Gavin Hunt, who was in charge of his 1000th game in the PSL top flight as a coach. The 60-year-old was given a guard of honour before the match by both teams.

In 18 matches, SuperSport are ninth on the standings with 20 points. The points came from five wins, five draws and eight defeats.

As for Abafana Bes’thende, they’re 12th on the log with 20 points from 15 outings. This is after registering five victories, five stalemates and five defeats.

Last time out, Arrows’ clash against Orlando Pirates was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch at Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale.
