Mdantsane reveals reason behind his Chiefs departure

Mduduzi Mdantsane, who’s currently on loan at Richards Bay FC from Kaizer Chiefs, has revealed the reason behind his departure from Naturena.

The attacking midfielder joined the Natal Rich Boyz on the January PSL transfer window deadline day, signing a deal that will keep him in KwaZulu-Natal for the rest of the season.

The 30-year-old was out injured for an extended period of time after undergoing surgery on his jaw for an injury he sustained in a car accident.

He departed Amakhosi without playing a single game this season. And since his arrival at Richards Bay, he has been part of the squad on three occasions.

He made an eight-minute appearance in a 2-0 win against Polokwane City FC and was an unused substitute in two other matches.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with this website, Mdantsane said a loan move to the Zululand club was a “mutual agreement” between him and Chiefs.

He says he felt he needed a place where he would have increased chances to get more minutes on the pitch and that Richards Bay was the right fit for him.

MDANTSANE – ‘I FELT I NEEDED SOME TIME TO PLAY’

“Well, it was a mutual agreement between the team and me,” Mdantsane told FARPost.

“I felt I needed some time to play and getting an opportunity to work with Richards Bay as they have a lot of young talents in the team and how they play football. I believed it would suit my style of football and also enjoy myself on the field.

“So, I feel blessed and grateful to work with the team.”

Summing up his time at Chiefs so far, Mdantsane said, “My stay at Chiefs hasn’t been that long, but as a player, I always try to enjoy each and every moment to be on the field and environment.

“So, to sum it all up, it has been great and blessed to be around.”
