A sombre atmosphere enveloped the SAFA Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League this weekend, with teams uniting to mourn the loss of Phezulu FC’s Siyabonga Zulu and Nhlanhla Masina, who died in a car accident.
The incident took place on Sunday, 16 February 2025, on the R580 route when the players were travelling from Secunda to Evander.
Thabo Mosadi, who was travelling together with the former Mamelodi Sundowns man Zulu and Masina, has been discharged from the hospital and is recovering well at home.
The Mpumalanga amateur teams observed a moment of silence in each game over the weekend, showing solidarity and sympathy after the two players’ loss. The duo was laid to rest this past weekend.
Meanwhile, three fixtures in the KwaZulu-Natal were postponed due to waterlogged pitches.
