Vilakazi’s resignation leaves Arthur Zwane in sole charge at AmaZulu
AmaZulu FC have announced the immediate resignation of co-head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi, with Arthur Zwane assuming the role of sole head coach for the club.
Vilakazi was appointed as the club’s co-coach with Arthur Zwane at the beginning of the season following the departure of Franco Pablo Martin.
‘Kanu’, as he’s affectionately known, tendered his resignation, which was accepted by Usuthu president Sandile Zungu.
Zwane, who has been appointed as the sole coach following Vilakazi’s departure, joined Usuthu in October 2024. This came after he parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs, a club he had spent 24 years as a player and later coachÂ
‘10111’ and Vilakazi were tasked with turning around the fortunes of AmaZulu. The KZN side had lost all three of their opening league matches of the season. This poor run of form saw them languishing at the bottom of the Betway Premiership table.
The co-coaches successfully stabilised the team’s performance, leading to AmaZulu’s current fifth-place position with 26 points from 19 league fixtures.
