AmaZulu FC star makes interesting season ending prediction
An AmaZulu FC star has made an interesting prediction about his club’s fortunes as the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season nears the homestretch.
Augustine Mulenga has not had much to contribute until this stage of the season due to a leg injury. He only featured in one game against Chippa United when the season started.
However, Usuthu has seemingly transformed after a poor start to the campaign under Spanish coach Pablo Franco Martin. They appointed Arthur Zwane and Vusimuzi Vilakazi.
The two promising coaches were appointed as co-head coaches in October 2024,, with Usuthu sitting in the relegation zone in the Betway Premiership. However, Vilakazi has since stepped down from his position due to “personal reasons”, leaving former Kaizer Chiefs coach Zwane in charge of the AmaZulu squad.
Since the changes, AmaZulu FC has been fluctuating in the top eight of the Betway Premiership table. At the moment, they sit in sixth position, having collected 26 points from 19 matches. This translates to eight wins, nine defeats and two draws.

As it stands, they are ten points behind second-placed Orlando Pirates, who have 36 points on their tally. And with 11 games remaining before the curtain goes down, Mulenga believes winning a CAF interclub spot is not a far cry.
Speaking to FARPost, the 35-year-old said AmaZulu FC are pretty poised to claim at least a top-four spot this season.
“It’s very possible at the moment. You know, since the new coaches came, we have a renewed hope. I think the top four finish is very possible, but at the same time, we are not far from being in the top two, Mulenga told FARPost.
“We had a slow start, but right now, I think it’s very possible for us to end up playing in Africa. Position two is possible, and I strongly feel we can do it.
“There has been massive progress since we had new coaches because they brought us back on track. And by the end of the season, we will be in a better position as a team.”
