Orlando Pirates defeated the log leaders Stellenbosch FC in the DDC, while Mamelodi Sundowns stumbled again over the weekend.
In a dominant display at the Vaal University of Technology’s Isak Steyl Stadium, ‘The Buccaneers’ secured a 3-1 victory over ‘The Cape Winelands side’.
The Sea Robbers’ top goal-scorer, Siphamandla Msezane, was once again instrumental, scoring his 13th goal of the campaign.
His recent strike also cements his position as the second top scorer in the league, chasing Cape Town City FC’s Cee-Jay Bezuidenhout, who leads with 14 goals.
Ezimnyama Ngenkani’s victory elevated them to fifth place in the standings with 37 points from 20 matches, while Stellenbosch, despite their loss, remain log leaders with 44 points from the same number of games.
Meanwhile, at Tuks Stadium, ‘The Brazilians’ played to a 0-0 draw with Richards Bay FC, dropping points for the second consecutive time.
Bafana Ba Style remain in third place with 39 points from 19 games, while Richards Bay occupy seventh place with 32 points after 20 games.
On the same day, Marumo Gallants picked a massive 4-0 triumph over Polokwane City FC at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein.
With their third victory of the season, Bahlabane Ba Ntwa reached 12 points but still occupy 14th place after 20 games. Rise and Shine, with 14 points from 19 games, are only slightly ahead in 13th.
TS Galaxy secured a commanding 5-2 victory over Cape Town City FC at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium. This was their second consecutive win, signalling a strong recovery from their previous slump. ‘The Rockets’ now hold eighth place with 31 points, while ‘The Citizens’ drop to sixth with 33 points.
Golden Arrows delivered a strong performance, defeating Chippa United 3-1 at Buffalo City Stadium. This win propels ‘Abafana Bes’thende’ to 11th place with 17 points, while ‘The Chilli Boys’ languish in 15th with 7 points.
On Sunday, AmaZulu were supposed to take on Magesi FC. However, the match was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
