Why Khama Billiat is sidelined as Zim’s roars into life

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns star Khama Billiat suffered a blow that has seen him being sidelined as Zimbabwe’s PSL roars into life.

The former PSL Player of the Season missed Scottland FC’s maiden Zimbabwe PSL match on Friday. The Scotts beat Triangle 1-0 in a match that was played at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

BILLIAT LIKELY BE SIDELINED FOR TWO MORE MATCHES

However, FARPost understands Billiat might miss two more matches as he nurses the injury. It remains to be seen how quickly he will manage to regain full fitness for the Tonderai Ndiraya-coached side.

They face Caps United and Ngezi Platinum Stars in their next two matches. The former Ajax Cape Town forward signed for Scottland FC after an impressive 2024 season.

His first season in Zimbabwe earned him the Soccer Star of the Year runner-up award as a Yadah FC player. The Zimbabwe international attacker was one of the top scorers in 2024 after scoring 13 goals, and he had the second-best tally in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

In addition, he contributed 11 assists, seeing him achieve a remarkable total of 24 goal involvements for Yadah FC.

However when his contract expired, he decided against extending his stay with Yadah FC as he was spoiled for choice. The 34-year-old had interest from the PSL, Tanzania and Saudi Arabia, but he opted to stay in his motherland.

Scottland FC, who are in their maiden PSL appearance after gaining promotion from the first division last year, will be banking on Billiat’s wealth of experience.

Additionally, Scottland is arguably the richest club in Zimbabwe after receiving sponsorship worth over R50 million. The club received sponsorship from Betterbrands, Sakunda Holdings, IMC Communications and Ecobank among other sponsors.
