Broos names Bafana preliminary squad to face Lesotho and Benin

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named his preliminary squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin this month.

Broos’ charges will play Lesotho at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Friday, 21 March. Bafana will jet off to Ivory Coast to play Benin on Tuesday, 25 March 2025.

The 37-member preliminary squad will be trimmed to the final 23 players in due course. So far, Bafana have played four games and managed to win two, draw one, and lost one.

As a result, Broos’ troops are currently placed second in Group C. They have collected seven points, equal on points with group leaders Rwanda.
