Orlando Pirates provide injury update on six key players
Betway Premiership side Orlando Pirates have provided an injury update on six key players as the 2024/25 season is reaching its climax.
The Buccaneers have been dealt with heavy setbacks after a handful of first-team players sustained injuries that kept them on the sideline for a long period.
Pirates are fighting for the Betway Premiership, Nedbank Cup and CAF Champions League, however, the injuries in their squad have resulted in an inconsistent run of form.
In their last league match, Pirates suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Marumo Gallants at the Free State Stadium this past weekend. The loss saw Bucs go 18 points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who are on course to win their eighth successive league title.
The Soweto giants are sitting second on the table with 36 points after 16 matches, while Sundowns occupy the top spot with 54 points in 20 games.
Pirates have been pushing Sundowns in the title race this season before the injuries to Olisa Ndah and Thabiso Sesane, who formed a formidable combination in the centre-back position.
Since the two talented centre-backs are out injured, the Ghosts have been leaky in defense, which saw them concede four goals against Masandawana last month.
OLISAH NDAH RETURNS TO FULL FITNESS
In what would come as a big relief to the technical team, Pirates have announced that Olisa Ndah is back to full training while others are in different stages of rehabilitation.
“Miguel Timm [Ankle] is currently undergoing on-field rehabilitation work while also attending physiotherapy sessions. He is expected to return to full training in 7-14 days,” said Pirates on their website.
“Thabiso Monyane [Hamstring] has started field-based rehabilitation with emphasis on agility, aerobic endurance and accelerations and decelerations. To start high-speed running next week.
“Zakhele Lepasa [Ankle] has started field-based training with the strength and conditioning team. Olisa Ndah (Shin) has completed his rehabilitation and has returned to full training. Currently working on his match fitness.
“Thabiso Lebitso [Ankle] continues to undergo treatment post-surgery. Attending Physiotherapy sessions for acute management.
“Thabiso Sesane [Achilles], like Lebitso, Sesane also underwent a successful procedure and is currently undergoing treatment while attending Physiotherapy sessions for acute management.”
