Kaizer Chiefs defender Rushwin Dortley has picked three teammates he trusts in the heat of battle. Dortley joined Amakhosi at the start of the season from Motsepe Foundation Championship side, Cape Town Spurs.
He has been a regular feature alongside Inacio Miguel in the heart of the Chiefs’ defence.
However, he was missing in action against Magesi FC on Tuesday in a Betway Premiership tie at FNB Stadium in Soweto. Given Msimango replaced him, as Chiefs won the game 1-0 thanks to a goal by Ashley Du Preez in the second half.
Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi explained the absence of the Bafana Bafana defender.
“It was just a discomfort. We didn’t want to take a risk. He will be back for the next game,” Nabi said when asked about Dortley.

In the latest instalment of the Chiefs’ “Get To Know Your Player” feature, the defender was asked to select three teammates he would take into battle. The left-footed centre-back chose three players he trusts to fight fiercely alongside him.
“If I were to go to war, the three players I’d take with me are [Sibongiseni] Ox Mthethwa, Inacio Miguel and Ranga Chivaviro,” he said. In the background, he can be heard calling Mthethwa’s “Nyambose” clan name, suggesting a relationship of mutual respect between the two.
Dortley expressed his desire to play at Anfield Stadium in England, highlighting it as his dream venue. He named the late rapper AKA as his “GOAT Hip Hop artist”. The Amakhosi star also revealed that his celebrity crush is Kim Kardashian.
If he had to choose one dish to eat for the rest of his life, it would be Biryani. When asked to choose between Argentinian legend Lionel Messi and Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, he ultimately selected ‘CR7’.
