Broos leads Bafana delegation’s visit to New Peter Mokaba Stadium

Coach Hugo Broos led the Bafana Bafana delegation’s visit to the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Lesotho this month.

Broos‘ troops are set to face Lesotho on Friday, 21 March 2025, at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The kick-off is set for 18:00.

The purpose of the visit was to assess the condition of the stadium’s pitch after grass restoration. The stadium experienced a pitch dilemma during a music concert in December 2024 hosted by Makhadzi. The venue experienced serious damage due to inadequate protection during the festival.

South Africa is placed in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. They are with Rwanda, Benin, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and Lesotho.

Currently, Bafana ranks second in the Group with seven points after four matches. They are tied on points with the group leaders, Rwanda.
