Motsepe at odds with Magesi FC
Barely eight months after joining Betway Premiership newcomers Magesi FC, Sello Motsepe finds himself at odds with the club. FARPost has gathered that the club recently expressed dissatisfaction regarding Motsepe’s performances.
As things stand, the 31-year-old defender is set to follow experienced Malawian defender Limbikani Mzava and former Kaizer Chiefs winger Kgaogelo Sekgota, who were among seven exits in January. Mzava, a consistent performer, was dismissed following a dispute with the club over bonus payments.
Jacob Everson, Njoti Tumelo, Mokhele Maloisane, Masegela Tholang, and Bongani Mpandle were the other players who were axed. The Premiership newcomers are on the verge of terminating his contract due to unsatisfactory performance.
MOTSEPE HAS STRUGGLED FOR GAME TIME AT MAGESI FC
Interestingly, his last appearance for the club was on February 5, during a match against Chippa United, which ended in a 4-1 defeat. He has not featured for the club since then and seems out of favour with new coach, Owen Da Gama.
Da Gama’s predecessor, Clinton Larsen, also didn’t use him much during his tenure at the club.
The veteran defender joined the Limpopo side alongside Lebogang Mabojta and Mokhele Maloisane, who were previously at Sekhukhune United. However, he has only made three appearances in the Betway Premiership and Nedbank Cup.
On 28 January, he captained Magesi in the Nedbank Round of 16 match against SuperSport United. The Limpopo side was on the losing side on the day. He has either played in central defence or in midfield in his few appearances.
Meanwhile, addressing the media after the 1-0 defeat to Chiefs on Tuesday in the league, Da Gama acknowledged his task was difficult.
“So it’s a very, very difficult task, especially with the inexperience. The experienced players know how to bridge, how to go over a loss and how to bounce back,” he said.
“But with the younger players, it takes a little bit of time just to get them going. Even the chairman comes in and addresses the players just to motivate them. So we’re thankful for that. But it’s all about the combined efforts of everybody trying to lift their spirits and tell them that this is their bread and butter. If we do well, some might get new contracts for next season.
“So you try to motivate them and to make them understand that it’s important for them to be in the league and to forget about the past.”
