Tim Sukazi confirms Kabini’s transfer to Erling Halaand’s boyhood club

TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has confirmed Samukelo Kabini’s transfer to Erling Halaand’s boyhood club in Norway.

The impending move to Molde, the club where Manchester City FC striker Erling Halaand cut his teeth, coincides with the announcement of the young left-footed defender’s inclusion in the preliminary Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Since joining the Mpumalanga club from Orlando Pirates, he has established himself as one of the most promising defenders in South Africa. Sukazi confirmed the talented left-footed centre-back, who can also play as a left-back, had attracted the interest of two teams in Norway.

Earlier in the season, he caught the eye of Bundesliga side FC Augsburg scouts during their pre-season training in Mpumalanga.

“I’m happy personally, and we are happy as TS Galaxy because of the promises we made years ago as TS Galaxy,” Sukazi told Ikwekwezi FM.

“We committed that one day we will send a player from KwaNdebele to join a team in a higher-level overseas league. His roots in KwaNdebele fill us with immense pride, and we are confident he will represent us with great honour.”

The 20-year-old was absent in the 1-1 draw against Cape Town City. However, in the previous game, he was instrumental in the Galaxy’s victory 2-0 against Golden Arrows. He scored the opener and provided an assist for the second.

“There were two teams that wanted him. We are working on the paperwork so he can make it in time. The window period that side is closing on 27 March,” added Sukazi.

He further explained that the deal had been structured to benefit all parties involved. Sukazi is known for not standing in the way of any player pursuing a better opportunity.

At his young age, Kabini already has 39 appearances for Galaxy. Since making his professional debut under coach Sead Ramovic on November 1, 2023, he has scored three goals and recorded three assists.
