Siphelele Ntshangase credits ex-Chiefs teammate for lifeline
Midfielder Siphelele Ntshangase has revealed what his ex-teammate at Kaizer Chiefs Joseph Molangoane said to him that spurred his return to football after two years in the wilderness.
Ntshangase is currently in the books of the ambitious SAFA Limpopo ABC Motsepe League side Sunrise FC.
Before joining Sunrise, he was unattached since parting ways with Motsepe Foundation Championship side Black Leopards two seasons ago. The 31-year-old is undoubtedly one of the most lifted players but has unfortunately not realised his full potential due to various issues such as ill discipline off the field.
Many thought he would be the next big star when he joined Chiefs in 2018. But an unsuccessful three-and-half stay at Amakhosi saw his career take a wrong turn. He also had a stint at Betway Premiership side Marumo Gallants during the 2021/22 season.
FORMER KAIZER CHIEFS MIDFIELDER RETURNS TO FOOTBALL AFTER TWO YEARS IN THE WILDERNESS
Ntshangase spoke to this publication on Friday about his sudden return to football. He says Molangoane is among the people who have made him still believe in his talent.
“I was called by my friend [Joseph] Molangoane. He said to me that he still believes I have potential. He asked why I was sitting at home with so much talent,” Ntshangase told FARPost.
“He told me that I am a star, so that’s why I also felt wanted. To be honest, people who still have the belief in me that I can still do this have helped me.
“So I think that’s one of the reasons I also find myself here. I am free [that’s why I am enjoying my game].”
