Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has given a response on who he’d prefer to face in the Nedbank Cup semifinals
Amakhosi secured a spot in the last four after defeating Stellenbosch FC 3-1 in the quarterfinal at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha on Saturday evening.
Inacio Miguel, Pule Mmodi and Mfundo Vilakazi found the back of the net for the Soweto giants, while Andre De Jong scored the only goal for the Cape Winelands side.
After the match, Nabi expressed his delight, acknowledging the difficulty of the encounter against the Western Cape side.
NABI DELIGHTED TO GO THROUGH TO NEDBANK CUP SEMIS
“It was a very tough game, it was a cup game. And in a cup game, there are a lot of emotions and changes in momentum,” said Nabi. “We are very happy to go through and to be in the semifinals against a very good team of Stellenbosch.”
Meanwhile, when asked whether he had preferences in the semifinals, he stated that they needed to respect any team they would be pitted against.
He believes that all remaining teams would be formidable, having earned their place through a challenging journey.

NABI SAYS ‘NO SPECIAL PREFERENCE’ FOR CHIEFS IN SEMIS
“There’s no special preference because when a team gets to the semifinal, you have to be very careful because they have their very own strengths,” he added.
“And you need to prepare seriously for every team. Even Durban City FC, if they have gotten into the quarterfinals, that means they are very strong, and we need to respect them.”
With their victory over Stellies, Chiefs joined Orlando Pirates in the list of teams that had qualified. The Sea Robbers, earlier in the day, overcame SuperSport United in a thrilling encounter, winning 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in 120 minutes at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The Mamelodi Sundowns and Sekhukhune United clash scheduled for Saturday was postponed due to a double-booking at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.
The last quarterfinal match of the weekend between Durban City FC and Marumo Gallants will take place at Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday at 3:00 PM.
