Tinkler’s arrival sparks Sekhukhune United technical team overhaul

The arrival of Eric Tinkler at Sekhukhune United looks set to spark a technical team overhaul at the club. Tinkler is set to replace Lehlohonolo Seema, who was axed last week.

Seema worked with assistant coaches – Kaitano Tembo and Paulus Masehe – during his second tenure at the Limpopo club. However, the duo has remained at the club following his exit.

Indications are that Tinkler is bringing along retired former Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City FC left-back Marc van Heerden. The ex-fullback played under Tinkler at CT City, and the two are known to share a cordial relationship.

Besides Van Heerden, Tinkler will reportedly keep Masehe in his technical team. The former Free State Stars midfielder, Masehe, has been a loyal servant at Babina Noko. He has previously worked in the club’s youth structures and senior team.

Meanwhile, Kaitano Tembo is expected to be redeployed to the youth structures. It means the former SuperSport United and Richards Bay FC coach will not be part of the senior team.

The club’s management was expected to introduce Tinkler to the squad on Monday afternoon as the team prepares for their upcoming game.

The veteran coach, who has previously coached Pirates and SuperSport United, will be in charge when Sekhukhune take on Marumo Gallants on Wednesday in a Betway Premiership clash. The game will be played at the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein, and Tinkler will be eager to start his tenure with a win.

Sekhukhune will also be looking to return to winning ways after suffering a defeat in their most recent league tie against Richards Bay FC.

Currently placed fourth on the table, Babina Noko will be looking to pick a win and keep their chase for a third-place finish on course.
