How Mahlatse Makudubela is finding life in DRC

Mahlatse Makudubela, the left-winger, has opened up about his experience adapting to life in DR Congo and his integration into AS Vita Club.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns man joined the Congolese side in January this year. This follows his departure from the Tanzanian giants, Yanga SC.

‘Skudu’, as he is popularly known, put pen to paper with AS Vita on an eight-month deal with a one-year option.

The 35-year-old has already hit the ground running for AS Vita, having made his debut on the 23rd of February when they lost 1-0 to Anges Verts at home in the league.

MAHLATSE MAKUDUBELA ON LIFE IN DRC

Makudubela mentioned that he is adapting well in the DRC and has become accustomed to the surroundings. He also acknowledged the AS Vita coaching staff, especially head coach Youssoph Dabo, for making him feel at home and getting used to the club’s playing style.

“I think the coaching staff made it easy for me to settle in since my arrival here at As Vita Club,” said Makudubela in a recent interview with FARPost.

“Another factor that has helped is the delay in the league’s resumption. This helped me a lot to adjust to the environment here.

“Coach Youssoph Dabo has also assisted me in adjusting to the Congolese league. I am also adopting the club’s style of play, and everything is going well thus far.

“He [Dabo] is a very good coach, highly tactical and very knowledgeable coach. He worked with the Senegal U-20 national team, and he played the game himself. So, his knowledge has come in handy.”

AS Vita’s next league match will be against Renaissance away from home on Sunday, 16 March. The game will take place at Stade des Martyrs at 16:30 [SA time].
