Chiefs hold onto DDC top spot as Pirates maintain winning streak
Kaizer Chiefs maintained their top spot in the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] log standings with a victory over SuperSport United, while Orlando Pirates continued their impressive run with a sixth consecutive win.
Amakhosi secured a 2-0 victory over Polokwane City FC at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Saturday, extending their winning streak to three matches. The Phefeni Glamour Boys have collected 48 points in 20 games so far.
Aden McCarthy confidently converted a penalty in the first half, while Naledi Hlongwane sealed the victory for the Soweto giants with a second goal in the second stanza.
Rise and Shine’s poor run continued with a third straight loss, leaving them languishing in 13th place with a mere 14 points from 21 matches.
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch FC came out with a 1-0 victory against Magesi FC, with Tauric Gamildien netting the decisive goal, maintaining their strong second-place position with 47 points. Dikwena tÅ¡a Meetse remain 12th in the standings with 17 points. The game was staged at the Idas Valley Stadium on Saturday.Â
Golden Arrows and Sekhukhune United shared the spoils in a high-scoring 3-3 draw at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium, also on Saturday. The Durban-based club now hold the 11th position while Babina Noko occupy ninth place.
In a thrilling encounter at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Sunday, Ezimnyama Ngenkani stormed to a 4-2 victory over SuperSport United, extending their winning streak to five matches.
This triumph lifted the Sea Robbers to third place with 43 points from 22 games, while Matsatsantsa settled for the fourth spot with 41 points from 21.
The last clash on Sunday saw Mamelodi Sundowns beat AmaZulu FC 2-1, returning to winning ways after a winless run of three games.
The Tshwane giants have moved up to fourth place, having collected 42 points from 21 matches, while AmaZulu are 10th with 23 points after 20 games.
