Lehlohonolo Seema lifts trophy with Lesotho side

Coach Lehlohonolo Seema lifted a trophy with Lesotho side Bantu FC over the weekend, two weeks after cutting ties with Betway Premiership outfit Sekhukhune United.

Babina Noko sacked Seema following their 2-1 defeat to Richards Bay FC in a league tie at the King Zwelithini Stadium in KZN on Wednesday, 5 March 2025.

Seema departed Sekhukhune while they held fourth position in the league table, having accumulated 31 points from 20 games, with a breakdown of nine wins, four draws, and seven losses.

This was Seema’s second stint with the Limpopo club, having first joined back in November 2023 after he was fired by Polokwane City FC. He was let go in June 2024 and brought back again in August 2024.

The Limpopo club went on to rope in former Cape Town City FC mentor Eric Tinkler, who will be assisted by Marc Van Heerden and Paulus Masehe.

WHO DID BANTU FC BEAT TO BE CROWNED PEOPLE’S CUP CHAMPIONS

Bantu FC defeated Matlama FC 1-0 in the People’s Cup final at Mants’onyane on Saturday, 15 March 2025.

According to a Lesotho Radio Tebalo Lebajoa sports reporter, Bantu approached the former Orlando Pirates defender – Seema to help them in the cup games.

Seema started preparing the team for the People’s Cup tournament finals on Wednesday, 12 March 2025. It only took Seema three days to help Bantu to be crowned champions of the competition.

In his coaching career, the 44-year-old also had stints with clubs such as Bloemfontein Celtic, Chippa United, Black Leopards, Golden Arrows, and Polokwane City FC.

It remains unclear if the Lesotho side will keep Seema for the remainder of the season after guiding them to the promised land.

As things stand, Bantu are placed third in the Lesotho Premier League with 38 points from 19 matches. In those 19 outings, Bantu managed to secure 12 wins, two draws, and succumbed to five defeats.
