The agent of Mamelodi Sundowns loanee Etiosa Ighodaro has given the latest update on the future of the player amid interest in the PSL and North Africa.

The Nigerian centre-forward is currently on loan at AmaZulu FC and is in the books of the league-defending champions Sundowns, his parent club.

Since signing for the Tshwane giants from Abuja College in 2021, he has not made a single appearance for them.

Now, with his loan spell at Usuthu drawing to a close at the end of this season, Ighodaro has become a target for North African clubs, with his agent Mohammed Lawal confirming “strong interest.”

Furthermore, Lawal revealed that the PSL club, AmaZulu themselves, are keen to retain the services of the 23-year-old striker.

WHAT DOES ETIOSA IGHODARO’S FUTURE HOLD

“He’s on loan, so obviously, as usual, with every player who’s on loan, at the end of the spell, he returns to his parent club,” said Lawal during the interview with FARPost. “That’s where we are, but with that said, there’s a lot of interest in him.

“AmaZulu are keen also to keep him, and there are teams who are also interested.”

When asked further about interested teams, he remained tight-lipped, saying, “The strong interest is in Africa with the North African teams”.

Since moving to South Africa in 2021, Ighodaro’s career has seen him embark on four loan spells, starting with a move to Motsepe Foundation Championship club AmaTuks in the 2021/2022 season.

After his loan stint with AmaTuks, Ighodaro moved to the top tier with Chippa United during the 2022/23 season. He enjoyed a successful spell there, scoring 11 goals and providing two assists in 27 games.

However, that impressive spell at Chippa United was not enough to convince Sundowns to recall him for the following season, as he was sent to SuperSport United for another loan period during the 2023/24 campaign. He scored eight goals and provided four assists for Matsatsantsa.

And lastly, in his current loan at AmaZulu, Ighodaro has scored five goals and provided one assist in 23 matches across all competitions so far this season.
