Eric Tinkler identifies areas to improve at Sekhukhune United

Sekhukhune United coach Eric Tinkler has made an admission that there are still areas that they need to improve at his new club.

Tinkler was officially appointed as the new man in charge early this month at Sekhukhune.

He took over from Lehlohonolo Seema who was shown the door despite the club being in the top four. The former Bafana Bafana midfielder has been in charge in two matches at the Betway Premiership club winning one and suffering defeat in the other tie.

The 54-year-old has pointed out what he believes they will need to deal with, especially during the FIFA break.

WHICH AREAS WILL ERIC TINKLER NEED TO IMPROVE DURING THE FIFA BREAK?

“There is still quite a bit that I have to do, in terms of the playing style that I want,” said Tinkler.

“Today [against Stellenbosch FC] it was a little bit better in terms of our position and build-up. But in the final third, I don’t think there was enough creativity. I don’t think there was enough penetration. So those are certain areas that we need to work on and obviously the mistake you know, the ability to keep the ball making the right decisions.”

“In my two games that I have been in charge now, the three goals have come from crosses and we don’t seem to be able to deal with the balls coming into the box. So those are areas that we obviously need to figure out what is the issue,” he added.

SEKHUKHUNE UNITED COACH WANTS HIS SIDE TO IMPROVE IN TERMS OF THEIR DEFENDING

“Is it because our defence is not dealing with that or is it because the keeper is not coming out? So these are things that I will analyse and now that we have the FIFA break I can sit and work on those elements to improve them.

“If you want to be competing at the highest level, you have to concede less goals and I think over the season so far has been a weakness for Sekhukhune. Yes, they have been winning matches but they have also been conceding goals. So if you want to find yourself on top of the league, then you have to have clean sheets.”
