Venue and date set for Sundowns vs Sekhukhune Nedbank quarterfinal
The date and venue for the rescheduled Nedbank Cup quarterfinal match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Sekhukhune United have been officially confirmed.
The match was initially scheduled for Saturday, March 8. But it was postponed due to a double booking at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. On the same day, the venue was hosting an Under-17 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifier against Nigeria.
The PSL has announced that Sundowns will now face Babina Noko on Friday, March 28, at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7PM. The winner of the clash will meet with Kaizer Chiefs in the semifinal.
In the other semifinal, defending Nedbank champions Orlando Pirates take on Marumo Gallants.
“The postponed #NedbankCup fixture between @Masandawana and @SekhukhuneFc will be played on Friday, 28 March at 19:00 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. Tickets are available at Ticketpro Outlets for R60 each,” confirmed the PSL.
The PSL further stated that fans who held tickets for the original fixture date could obtain a replacement ticket if they did not request a refund.
“If you have a valid match ticket from the postponed match, be sure to visit the verification booth on match day for a replacement ticket. If you opted for a refund, you will need to purchase a new ticket.”
ERIC TINKLER TO GUIDE SEKHUKHUNE UNITED AGAINST SUNDOWNS IN NEDBANK QUARTERFINAL
Newly appointed Sekhukhune coach Eric Tinkler is eager to guide the team into the semifinals of the prestigious cup competition. He recently succeeded Lehlohonolo Seema as the head coach of the Limpopo club.
In an intriguing matchup, Tinkler will face a Masandawana side with a demanding fixture schedule. Straight after the international break, the reigning Betway Premiership champions’ Bafana Bafana contingent will return to Pretoria to take on Sekhukhune.
Sundowns boast seven players in the Bafana squad. The national team is set to host against Lesotho on Friday, March 21, in Polokwane. After that, they will travel to Ivory Coast to face Benin in a 2025 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
