What Lesotho coach demands from his players ahead of Bafana tie

Lesotho senior national team head coach Leslie Notsi has revealed what he demands from his players ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier tie against Bafana Bafana.

Notsi’s charges will take on South Africa on Friday, 21 March, at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The showdown will kick off at 18:00.

Lesotho arrived in Polokwane on Monday morning and held their first training session in the afternoon. Likuena are currently placed fourth in Group C table, having collected five points after four outings.

Meanwhile, Hugo Broos‘ boys are in second position with seven points after four matches, equal in points with group leaders Rwanda, who are ahead via a superior goal difference.

LESOTHO COACH ON FACING BAFANA BAFANA IN THE WORLD CUP QUALIFIER ENCOUNTER

The Lesotho coach says his players must push hard and ‘dig deep’ to shock the Bafana team, which has had success under Broos.

Notsi added that his troops will face the Bafana team without fear. “They have some of the best-talented players with one of the shrewd coaches around, and I expect a tough encounter, which I believe we have to dig deep to put in a competitive game,” he said.

“I think this is a match that is highly anticipated by the supporters. As you know, we are neighbouring countries. I want my players to put in big performances. It’s not usual for us to play against each other in big qualifiers like the World Cup.

“It’s a game that people are looking forward to. I believe it’s going to be a tough encounter playing one of the best countries in our region. Also, the continent as a whole.”
