Lesotho coach shares observations on Broos’ impact on Bafana Bafana
Lesotho coach Leslie Notsi has provided his observations on the changes he’s witnessed in Bafana Bafana under the tutelage of Hugo Broos.
Broos’ troops secured a 2-0 win over Likuena in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier clash at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Friday night.
Goals from Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng, and Mamelodi Sundowns’ Jayden Adams earned Bafana maximum points at home. Interestingly, the duo scored on their first starts for the national team.
The victory saw Bafana rise to the top of their group with 10 points, two clear of second-placed Benin. Each nation has played five matches.
South Africa are pitted in Group C of the World Cup qualifiers with Rwanda, Benin, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and Lesotho.
WHAT THE LESOTHO COACH HAS OBSERVED ABOUT BAFANA BAFANA UNDER HUGO BROOS
Notsi emphasised that South Africa has made significant tactical progress and that Broos has fostered unity to bring back Bafana’s brilliance.
“You know, tactically, they have improved a lot. So, there is a lot of speed that they play with,” said Notsi in Polokwane. “Another thing is the core of the team. I mean, when you look at it, it is made up of the [players from] teams that are doing well. They are doing well internationally [in the CAF inter-club competitions].
“So, the exposure that they have and how they conduct themselves in their respective clubs, you would expect to have a team like the current one. Also, the self-belief is there. But, it is something that has always been there for the South African football national teams.”
Notsi continued: “I think again, the contribution of the technical team is also putting more and making the team strive.”
Bafana’s upcoming match is set for Tuesday, 25 March, where they will play against Benin away. This game will take place at 18:00 [SA time].
