What Mahlatse Makudubela hopes to achieve with AS Vita Club

SA experienced winger Mahlatse Makudubela has highlighted what he wants to achieve during his stint with the Democratic Republic of Congo [DRC] giants, AS Vita Club.

The 34-year-old signed for the Congolese side in January 2025 after he cut ties with Tanzanian champions Yanga SC.

At Yanga, the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns and Marumo Gallants man lifted the NBC Premier League trophy and the FA Cup. They also reached the CAF Champions League quarterfinals of the last campaign.

‘Skudu’, as he’s affectionately known, signed for AS Vita on an eight-month deal with a one-year option.

Makudubela mentioned that securing another trophy in a foreign country would be a ‘remarkable achievement’ as he aims to leave a mark at Vita.

“Well, another piece of silverware in a foreign land would be a plus for my CV. But honestly speaking, I’m not going to put myself under pressure,” said Makudubela in an interview with FARPost.

“I would say my calling on this side is much higher and greater than just being on the field. I’m going to take it one game at a time and see what God has to offer for me.

“You know, it is always exciting to represent a team like AS Vita in the DRC, and that motivates you to strive, set records, and leave a mark that you were once on this team. This [Linafoot] is one of the big leagues in Africa, and playing in it is another achievement in its own right.”

As things stand, AS Vita are placed fifth in Group B of the Linafoot log standings with 24 points after 16 outings.

In those 16 league games played, the Youssoph Dabo-coached side managed to secure six wins, six draws and succumbed to four defeats.
