Golden Arrows suffer double blow for Kaizer Chiefs clash
As the Betway Premiership returns after the conclusion of the FIFA international break, Golden Arrows have suffered a double blow for their clash against Kaizer Chiefs.
The KZN-based side will welcome Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday, 29 March 2025. Arrows will be looking to complete a league double over Amakhosi after defeating them 1-0 in January with a goal by Gladwin Shitolo.
In a bid to pull off a big upset against Amakhosi, Arrows will be without two of their first team players, Keenan Phillips and Nhlanhla Zwane, due to suspensions.
Phillips and Zwane received their fourth yellow cards of the season, making them unavailable to face the Soweto giants. This was against Magesi FC in Arrows’ most recent game. Heading into this encounter, Abafana Bes’thende are occupying position 10 on the log standings with 24 points, whereas Chiefs are sitting eighth on the table with 29 points after 22 games.
Meanwhile, Chippa United will face AmaZulu FC in the crucial league clash at East London’s Buffalo City Stadium, also missing two of their key players.
Chippa are fighting to have a respectable finish to the 2024/25 season and secure a spot in the top eight. The Gqeberha-based outfit is currently sitting ninth on the league table with 25 points after 20 matches. They are four points away from the top eight.
CHIPPA UNITED WILL BE WITHOUT BOY MADINGWANE AND BIENVENU EVA NGA
In what promises to be an exciting showdown, Chippa will miss talented defender Boy Madingwane and striker Bienvenu Eva Nga against AmaZulu.
Madingwane and Eva Nga accumulated their fourth yellow cards of the season in the 2-0 win over Polokwane City FC, and they are going to serve a one-match suspension.
The Cameroonian forward has featured in 23 matches across all competitions for Chippa and scored three goals, while Madingwane has nine matches under his name since signing from Baroka FC in July 2024.
Other players who will miss the highly anticipated matches this weekend in the Premiership are Lindokuhle Zikhali, Nkosikhona Radebe, and Brian Onyango.
