Tashreeq Morris injury update: When will Chiefs striker return?
Kaizer Chiefs’ January signing, Tashreeq Morris, has been out of action since March 1 due to injury. Here’s the latest update on his injury.
The former SuperSport United striker played only 26 minutes against Mamelodi Sundowns before being stretchered off the field. Amakhosi went on to lose the match 1-0.
He has already missed four games so far. He watched the clash against Magesi FC from the stands and the 3-1 Nedbank Cup win over Stellenbosch FC. He was also unavailable for the goalless draw against Cape Town City FC and the disappointing 2-0 loss against Richards Bay FC.
Amakhosi will face Golden Arrows on Saturday, March 29, in a must-win Betway Premiership match at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. The match will kick off at 15h30.
Coming from the two-week FIFA international break, both teams would be eager to bag maximum points.
Currently, the Soweto giants are in eighth place in the standings with 29 points after 22 matches, while Abafana Bes’thende occupy the 10th position on the table with 24 points from 19 games.
Arrows beat Chiefs 1-0 in the reverse fixture and will be looking to complete a double over them.
WHAT IS THE LATEST ON TASHREEQ MORRIS’S INJURY
While the 30-year-old has reportedly returned to training, indications are that he is unavailable for the Arrows clash. Morris is, however, nearing a return to action. He could play a part early next month when Chiefs host high-riding TS Galaxy.
Amakhosi will welcome the Mpumalanga outfit to the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. Kick-off has been moved from 15h00 to 19h00.
In Morris’s absence against Arrows, Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi will look to Ashley Du Preez, who recently penned a new deal. Nabi also has Wandile Duba back from injury. Ranga Chivaviro is also available as an option as they search for maximum points.
