Da Gama acknowledges Magesi are not off the hook yet
Having turned Seshego Stadium into a fortress and winning five consecutive home games, Magesi FC coach Owen Da Gama has acknowledged that his side is not off the hook yet.
Da Gama was speaking after Magesi’s 1-0 win over Stellenbosch FCÂ in a Betway Premiership encounter at home on Saturday evening.
Thabang Sibanyoni’s second-half goal was enough to earn Dikwena Tsa Meetse the much-needed three points.
As a result, the Limpopo club climbed up the table to 11th place with 26 points after 23 games.
WHY OWEN DA GAMA SAYS THEY ARE NOT YET OUT OF DANGER
Da Gama emphasised that his team has plenty of work ahead since they are only five points clear from the relegation zone.
He further mentioned that they are not even getting ahead of themselves by considering qualifying for the top 8 position.
“We are not even thinking of the top 8, to be honest. We just want to get out there [relegation zone]. You know, two wins for a team at the bottom and one win and draw, we are back there [at the bottom],” said Da Gama.
“For now, we are just thinking of getting out there, which is very important. We still have big games to play. We still have to play Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates away from home. So, we still got to play the top five teams.
“I think we just take it one game at a time. For us, that’s the only thing we can do now. Fight for our lives for that one game, and then we look at the next one. We are not looking ahead of anything else.”
Magesi’s next league fixture will be against TS Galaxy at home on Sunday, 20 April 2025. This showdown will take place at Seshego Stadium, with the kick-off set for 15:00.
