Golden Arrows confirm three signings from Royal AM
Golden Arrows have confirmed three signings from Royal AM, strengthening their team as they look to end the season on a higher note.
The ongoing suspension of Thwihli Thwahla’s fixtures in the PSL has seemingly led to other clubs targeting their players.
Abafana Bes’thende have snapped up Ayabulela Maxwele, Shadrack Kobedi, and Sabelo Sithole from the Pietermaritzburg-based side.
Arrows’ 2-1 Betway Premiership victory over Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban saw two of their three new recruits in action.
Ayabulela Maxwele made his debut in the 45th minute, substituting Thokozani Lukhele at right-back, while Shadrack Kobedi was introduced later in the game, replacing Sazi Gumbi in the 73rd minute. Sabelo Sithole was not included in the matchday squad. This decision followed a demanding recent training that Mngqithi believed had taken a toll on the player.
The Arrows gaffer expressed his delight in welcoming the trio, stating that they will bring much-needed value to the team.
MNGQITHI DELIGHTED TO WELCOME TRIO FROM ROYAL AM
“They are brilliant players, they are going to add value to our squad,” said Mngqithi during the press conference at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
“Even Sithole could have played today [Saturday], but we felt physically, we had put him under a lot of stress in the last two weeks or few days maybe, when we really pushed most of those boys to the limit because we tried to improve the condition of the team so that they can play this very intensive game because they were not used to it.
“So, we felt we might lose a player with such big muscles if we stretched him into a game of this intensity, and that’s why he was not part of the team. But we are very happy to have him as well.”
