CT City coach opens up on working relationship with Roger De Sá

Cape Town City FC caretaker coach Diogo Peral has opened up on his working relationship with the ex-Orlando Pirates coach Roger De Sá.

De Sá was roped in by the Cape club to assist Lebogang Manyama and Peral after the side sacked Muhsin Ertugral a fortnight ago following a string of poor results.

The new CT City technical team was in charge in their first official game this past Sunday when they played out to a 0-0 draw with SuperSport United in a Betway Premiership clash at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The citizens find themselves fighting hard to survive the chop in the SA elite league, as they are placed 14th on the log standings with 24 points after 24 games. CT City are just two points clear of the relegation zone.

WHAT DIOGO PERAL SAID ABOUT ROGER DE SÁ

Peral disclosed that getting someone of De Sá’s calibre is a blessing, noting that his collaboration with him has been seamless.

De Sá comes highly rated, having coached teams such as Bidvest Wits, Santos, Pirates, Ajax Cape Town, Maritzburg United, and Platinum Stars in the PSL.

In addition, he served as an assistant coach for the Egyptian and Qatari national football teams alongside former Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Queiroz.

“It’s been brilliant [working with De Sá.]. Roger has got a lot of experience. He was in Cape Town and available to come help us,” said Peral.

“I have a good working relationship with him, and so does the club. I’m so happy to tap into that experience, and it’s a no-brainer.

“So, when he agreed to come to help us out, it was good news, and he has been great.”

CT City’s next match assignment will be against Sekhukhune United at home on Sunday, 6 April 2025. The game will start at 17:30 at the Cape Town Stadium.
