Katlego Otladisa breaks silence on touchline fight with Makgalwa

Orlando Pirates loanee Katlego Otladisa has broken his silence on the touchline fight with Keletso Makgalwa during a Nedbank Cup clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Following Sekhukhune’s 1-0 Nedbank Cup quarterfinal loss to Sundowns at Lucas Moripe Stadium last Friday, social media was flooded with visuals of Otladisa and Makgalwa in a tense altercation, with Otladisa attempting to confront Makgalwa before being stopped by fellow bench players.

According to information gathered by FARPost, the argument erupted after Makgalwa instructed Otladisa, who was on the bench, to stop sulking and quickly ‘get into the game’ as coach Eric Tinkler wanted to introduce Otladisa.

The Sekhuhune winger, on loan from Pirates, was clearly upset by Makgalwa’s remarks, resulting in him being left unused as a substitute and subsequently removed from the Babina Noko bench.

Otladisa has since opened up on the matter and sent a heartfelt apology to the Sekhukhune United family for his behaviour.

“Greetings and salutations, I hope all is well. I’d like to apologise to the Sekhukhune family and all the viewers about the behaviour I displayed on Friday evening,” Otladisa said on Instagram. “Different views were on display with a close friend in the team about a task at hand, a task we had as the Sekhukhune family.

“The matter should have been resolved in a respectable manner. However, the nature of the modern game requires problem solvers and, most importantly, people who can work together. My actions were out of line and not in line with the structures, in short, apologies to all.”

At Sekhukhune, Otladisa has scored two goals in his 11 matches, while Makgalwa netted six goals and provided nine assists in 27 appearances in all competitions at the club.
