Pirates give crucial injury update on Maswanganyi and Ndah

Orlando Pirates have provided an injury update on key midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi and defender Olisa Ndah ahead of their CAF Champions League first-leg quarterfinal match against MC Alger on Tuesday night.

The game between the Buccaneers and the Algerian side will take place at Stade du 5 Juillet at 21:00 [SA time].

Maswanganyi has been on the sidelines due to an injury that he sustained during a training session on Saturday, 15 March, prior to the Pirates’ game against Mamelodi Sundowns in the league.

This injury blow saw the 26-year-old miss out on the Bafana Bafana squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin during the March international break.

On Tuesday, Pirates confirmed that the playmaker continues to receive treatment for a quad strain injury and couldn’t travel with the team to Algeria.

Meanwhile, Ndah, who had just come back from an injury, has sustained a stress fracture during the club’s friendly match after an awkward landing.

The Soweto giants stated that the medical staff would issue an update regarding Ndah’s recovery status in about four weeks.
