Richards Bay FC release two defenders

Richards Bay FC have released two defenders, just two months before the conclusion of the current season, FARPost has learnt. The Natal Rich Boyz appear to be starting their team rebuild for the next season, aiming for future improvements.

The KZN club will be aiming to maintain their top-flight status next season and avoid relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship. They are currently 13th in the Betway Premiership league standings having racked up 24 points after 23 matches so far.

THE RICHARDS BAY FC RELEASED DUO

With the 2024/25 campaign yet to be wrapped up, Richards Bay have released Siyabonga Dube and Romario Dlamini, according to FARPost sources.

The club is understood to have informed the two players, who have both previously played for Golden Arrows, that they are not part of their future plans. While no longer training with the team, the duo remain contracted and will receive their salaries until June.

This move comes after both players experienced limited game time this season under the management of Brandon Truter, and subsequently under the joint leadership of Ronnie Gabriel and Papi Zothwane.

Dube started four matches in six that he played across all competitions this season. He joined the Zululand side at the beginning of the season on a free transfer after departing KF Liria in Kosovo.

Meanwhile, Dlamini has made two starts in four matches he played in all competitions. He has been with the Jomo Biyela-owned side since 2022.

The pair will now be seeking to have their services secured by other clubs, particularly in the top-flight.

To bolster their squad for the remainder of the current season and the upcoming campaign, Richards Bay have also completed the signings of Mfundo Thikazi and Sbangani Shezi.

The Natal Rich Boyz capitalised on the ongoing PSL suspension of Royal AM, whose league status for this season remains undecided by the PSL.
