‘It’s unacceptable’: Nkosingiphile Ngcobo gives verdict on Chiefs’ situation

Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has shared his thoughts on Kaizer Chiefs’ inconsistent run, explaining why he feels their performances are not poor.

Chiefs suffered a 2-1 defeat against Golden Arrows in the Betway Premiership at the Moses Mabhida Stadium this past weekend.

The Glamour Boys are winless in their last three matches in the league after losing 2-0 to another KZN-based side, Richards Bay FC, at King Zwelithini Stadium on the 16th of March 2025.

Before the two successive losses against Richards Bay and Arrows, Chiefs shared the spoils with Cape Town City FC after playing to a goalless draw.

The aftermath of the turbulent run of form has seen the Naturena-based side occupy the eighth spot on the log standings with 29 points in 23 games. They managed only eight league wins, drew five, and lost 10 times.

At the start of the season, Chiefs supporters had renewed hopes of ending their trophy drought after the appointment of head coach Nasreddine Nabi. However, the Tunisian mentor is seemingly struggling to propel the club to greater heights. But Nabi has reiterated that the Amakhosi faithful should be patient as he is ‘cooking’ – building a team that will challenge for trophies.

Speaking to the media on Thursday morning at Naturena, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has shed light on their rocky form, stating that they’re struggling to score goals, which is unacceptable for a team of Chiefs’ calibre.

“I think when you look at how we started the league this season, I think we started very well and we were scoring goals, but I’m not sure what happened [not to score goals anymore],” Ngcobo said.

“It’s not that we’re playing badly, we’re not scoring as we did when we started the league, and I wouldn’t say it’s only the attackers, it’s the whole team.

“So I think we dropped the standards, which is unacceptable. We are focusing on that and trying to improve with every game.”
