Mamelodi Sundowns announce new ‘powerful’ partnership

In a move to elevate their brand and performance, Mamelodi Sundowns have scored a “powerful” partnership with Huawei, a global technology giant. The collaboration aims to bring innovative solutions to Brazilians, both on and off the field.

Sundowns have dominated South African football following their impressive record of winning the Betway Premiership title seven times in a row.

The Chloorkop-based side is on course to clinch their eighth successive league trophy. They’re sitting at the summit of the log standings with 58 points after 23 games. Downs are leading second-placed Orlando Pirates with 15 points. The Ghosts have collected 43 points in 19 matches, and they have four games in hand.

Meanwhile, Sundowns are also chasing glory in the CAF Champions League and the Nedbank Cup. The Tshwane giants are in the quarterfinal of the Champions League and the semifinal of the Nedbank Cup.

In a statement on Friday morning, Sundowns announced their new partnership with Huawei, promising to bring a great experience to fans and stakeholders.

“Partnering with Mamelodi Sundowns FC is an exciting milestone for Huawei. Their legacy of success and relentless pursuit of greatness perfectly aligns with our vision for innovation and excellence,” said Peter Feng, CEO, Huawei South Africa Consumer Business Group.

Sundowns chairman Thlopie Motsepe expressed his excitement about bringing a lasting impact to the Chinese mobile company.

“Great teams and great innovators thrive on pushing limits. We are thrilled to have Huawei partner with us in this journey of technology and sport- and we look forward to making a lasting impact together.” Motsepe said on the Sundowns website.

The Chloorkop-based side joined Premiership teams such as Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United in partnering with cellphone companies. Pirates have the sponsorship deal with OPPO while SuperSport has a deal with HONOR.
