Happy Mashiane opens up on his growth at Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs player Happy Mashiane has reflected on his growth at the club since his promotion to the senior team. Mashiane was promoted from the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] team during the 2018/19 season.
He has since gone on to make just 52 appearances in the Betway Premiership and 12 in domestic cups. He enjoyed more game time during both Gavin Hunt and Arthur Zwane’s tenures.
This season, Mashiane has made six league appearances and two in the cup under coach Nasreddine Nabi.
“I have worked with different coaches and all of them have different dynamics and their approach to certain things,” said Mashiane.
KAIZER CHIEFS PLAYER MAKES HONEST ASSESSMENT OF HIS GROWTH
“But to be honest, I am growing as a player. Obviously, I take it as a game. Whenever I am given the opportunity, I try to do my utmost best and also listen to the coaches,” he added.
HAPPY MASHIANE INSISTS HE ALWAYS GIVES HIS BEST WHEN GIVEN AN OPPORTUNITY
“Obviously, as a player, when you sign for Kaizer Chiefs, you want to achieve certain things. You also want to achieve as a team, not as an individual.
“So obviously I have been struggling with injuries throughout the season, and every time I am given the opportunity, I give my best.”
Mashiane was speaking to the media in Polokwane ahead of the Betway premiership clash against TS Galaxy at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday [19:00]. Amakhosi, who are eighth on the log, need maximum points to stand a realistic chance of fighting for a CAF Confederation Cup spot.
Amakhosi are also still in the Nedbank Cup. They are set to meet Mamelodi Sundowns in the semifinal next week Sunday in Pretoria.
